Bloom in Concert: Cape Town Philharmonic Youth Orchestra

A grand spring concert celebrating music, community and the season of bloom. Join the Cape Town Philharmonic Youth Orchestra, conducted by Liam Burden, with guest soprano Lynelle Kenned, for an elegant afternoon of orchestral music and song as part of Stanford in Bloom 2026. The programme has been specially selected to appeal to a broad audience and includes favourites from Carmen, My Fair Lady, The Sound of Music, Somewhere Over the Rainbow, Colours of the Wind, as well as South African works including Plea from Africa and a Miriam Makeba Medley.

Lynelle Kenned is one of South Africa’s most versatile and celebrated performers. An award-winning soprano, actress, television presenter and master of ceremonies, she has appeared in leading roles in productions including The Sound of Music, West Side Story, Showboat and La Bohème, while also performing regularly with leading orchestras and ensembles across the country.

The Cape Town Philharmonic Youth Orchestra is widely regarded as one of South Africa’s premier youth orchestras and provides opportunities for talented young musicians from across the Western Cape to perform at the highest level under the guidance of professional conductors and educators.
